April 1, 2010 - Functional Foods & Beverages
U.S. consumer sales of functional foods and beverages inched up 2.7% to $37.4 billion in 2009, according to Nutrition Business Journal’s latest functional food and beverage market estimates. May 27, 2010 - Direct Selling Practitioner Channel/MLM
If you currently sell via healthcare practitioners or are looking to break into this promising yet complex sales market, we urge you to check out Nutrition Business Journal’s Practitioner Supplement Sales Web Seminar, which was held on Thursday, May 27, 2010.
In addition to providing a detailed overview of how sales of dietary supplements and other nutrition produces fared via health practitioners in 2009, NBJ Editorial Director Carlotta Mast and NBJ Director of Market Research Carla Ooyen discussed the results of NBJ’s inaugural survey of healthcare practitioners. The survey was conducted to gauge the attitudes and practices of MDs, naturopathic physicians, chiropractors, nutritionists and other healthcare providers related to the recommendation and sale of dietary supplements.
NBJ Editorial Director, Carlotta Mast and NBJ Director of Market Research, Carla Ooyen, discussed how sales of dietary supplements and other nutrition industry products fared via Internet retailers, multi-level marketers (MLMs), healthcare practitioners, direct-response television (DRTV), direct-response radio (DR radio), and mail-order catalogs in 2009. Also joining the webinar was network-marketing expert Mike Sheffield, CEO of Sheffield Resource Network. Mike provided an overview of the nutritional MLM landscape, discussed why nutrition companies might want to consider launching a new product via an MLM model, and provided insights into how to avoid the high failure rate prevalent in network marketing.
Nutrition Business Journal hosted this Web seminar from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. MT on Thursday, July 8, 2010 to discuss direct-to-consumer selling in the nutrition industry.
